Granite Launches Granite Guardian FlexEdge to Deliver
Single-Source Network Management
Communications Provider Introduces Universal Edge
Device to Manage Security, SD-WAN, IP Communications, POTS Lines, Cellular Data
and More
QUINCY,
Mass. – December 21, 2020 – Granite
Telecommunications, a $1.6 billion provider of
communications services to multilocation businesses and government agencies, today announced the availability of Granite Guardian
FlexEdge, a universal customer premises device that
consolidates multiple network functions, such as firewall, SD-WAN, session
border controller (SBC), cellular data router and more.
Granite
Guardian FlexEdge is an enhancement to Granite Guardian, a comprehensive managed network solution that
safeguards the availability and performance of business connections from WAN to
LAN using an “as-a-service” delivery model. Granite Guardian includes services
for Access Remediation, Local Area Network (LAN), Security and Wide Area
Network (WAN) Optimization.
“Granite
Guardian FlexEdge enables us to deliver any and all
of our best-of-breed managed network solutions without deploying proprietary
hardware,” said Rand Currier, COO at Granite. “With the push of a button, FlexEdge can become a firewall, an SD-WAN router, an SBC, or
cellular data endpoint. It’s the total package.”
Uniquely, Granite Guardian FlexEdge also enables companies to quickly test or deploy one
or more Guardian solutions without installing and paying for new hardware each
time.
“There
is an old saying that you can have something better, cheaper or faster, but you
can only pick two. Granite Guardian FlexEdge allows
you to have all three,” said Currier. “FlexEdge not
only enables customers to have more flexibility in choosing the best solutions
for their needs and budget, but it also reduces hardware costs and speeds
deployment since there’s no waiting for hardware to be shipped or for a truck
roll.”
The all-in-one Granite Guardian FlexEdge device allows enterprises to:
·
Terminate an Ethernet circuit
·
Connect a broadband modem
·
Add 4G/5G wireless backup
·
Install a proxy server that enables Granite
Guardian Advanced Monitoring
·
Run an instance of any of Granite SD-WAN or security
solutions
·
Deploy an industry-leading firewall from
Fortinet, Juniper, Palo Alto, or Checkpoint
·

Granite Guardian
FlexEdge enables enterprises to benefit from:
·
Single-box
solution
·
On-demand
service chaining without the need for extra truck rolls
·
Built-in
remote troubleshooting tools
·
Rapid
proof of concept
·
Lower
hardware costs
“Granite has set itself apart in the
marketplace by simplifying, buying and managing communications solutions with one
contact and one bill,” said Currier. “Granite Guardian FlexEdge
extends this advantage with one universal edge device.”
